Pool heat pumps use a titanium heat exchanger rather than standard copper, since chlorinated or salt pool water would corrode a copper coil over time. Sizing is based on pool volume, desired temperature rise, and whether the pool is covered when not in use — an insulated pool cover significantly reduces the running cost of any pool heating system.
